The creation of a monotype provides a unique opportunity for me to capture on paper an elusive moment in time. Creative use of translucent light, rotating images, and luminous shifts in pigment offer limitless compositional possibilities. Use of the printing press surrenders a measure of sureness to chance, which makes the printmaking experience both precious and adventurous. Composing a series of three to six “paintings on paper” allows me to develop a single idea to it’s full potential. This medium is a true joy, and influences my work in all other mediums.
